The Inevitability of Death
I'm fascinated with the idea of death. Everyday we meet people and wonder, someday all of us will die. It's just a question of when and how.
It is a grim reality that we must all face one day and the sad fact about that is that no one can really tell what's going to happen to us in the afterlife. Is there a heaven? Is there a hell? Or are we just going to walk around the earth like restless spirits? Most of us are afraid of death because we don't know what's going to happen to us after.
Perhaps this has what made death so fascinating and unique. No one can really tell what's in it. It's a mystery that will always remain unknown to man.
Am I afraid to die? Perhaps at this age where I'm at the prime of my life, where I could achieve a lot of things, I can say it will be a horrible time to die. Of course most of us would have wanted to do the things we want to do before we die and to be deprived of such is like being curtailed of your freedom to live at all. There are even those who just go on living but have nothing to live for. Life is fragile and a treasure to be valued. Once it's gone, you don't know if you'll ever be able to pick up the pieces again.
Why do people die anyway? Is it to value our humanity more? Besides, it will be unthinkable to live forever. Do we truly only get one shot at life? Or don't we get reborn like in the concept of reincarnation?
So many questions but no answers can be contrived from these musings. For all its worth, there might be a greater purpose to all our timely and untimely demises in this world.
