The Uncertainty

How long can this heart endure
The advent, the longing for you to be sure
Tell me, tell me, what's on your mind
Any hint, any answer I need to find.

How can a heart still hold such a feeling
Where pain and remorse seem all it could bring
To be insensitive, I must learn yet to take
For getting hurt again I cannot afford to make.

Why, oh, why this heart betray thy mind
Have I learned before that love is blind
Protect thyself from the perils of love's woe
To risk thy heart is a heroic act to do so.

I have created this poem during the turbulent days before Mike and I became a couple 8 years ago. Fortunately, everything worked out for both of us.
