The Death of Man

Year 8999

“Oh my God, this can’t be happening.” Dr. Sam Hewlett of NASA Sun Research Division proclaimed in abject terror. He watched in horror as his computer screen showed the sun exploding right before his very own eyes. He checked the coordinates and he almost fainted. It was predicted to happen within 7 days. He called on their division head.
“Dr. Whitman, you’ve got see this. The sun is predicted to explode in 7 days. Within that time the UV rays will magnify in strength 10,000 times more which will be very lethal to humans. This is Armageddon. The whole solar system will be wiped out.”

Dr. Whitman looked at him incredulously. “Dr. Hewlett, I’m appalled. How did you arrive to such nonsense? As far as I see, the sun is glowing beautifully the way it should be.”

Sam raked his fingers through his hair in frustration. “I know it’s hard for you to believe. But I measured the UV rays and they’re expanding and gaining strength 10,000 times more. The ozone layer will be totally destroyed. Some unknown gases are causing this to happen. The sun’s core temperature continues to elevate as well. If this keeps up, the sun will–”
“I know, I know, the sun will explode as you mentioned.” Dr. Whitman interposed. He laughed and dismissed the matter with a wave of his hand. “I’m sorry, Dr. Hewlett. But not until you have more tangible evidence, I could not consider your findings as substantial.” He began to walk away.

Sam shook his head in dejection. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. We’re all going to die and there’s no escaping it.”

After 5 and 6 days

All forms of life including humans, animals and plants started showing physical changes. Trees, weeds and plants all began to wilt and wither in alarming speeds. Animals started dying regardless of kind. For humans, it was more unspeakable. Red patches and blisters started manifesting on their grotesquely-looking wrinkled skins. Some have gone blind and aged physically. A greater population started committing mass suicides. Nobody can no longer tolerate the blistering heat and damaging effects of the sun.

Day 7

The sun exploded. No life form is ever visible on Earth. Countless bodies were strewn everywhere, burned and emaciated from the devilish scorching heat. The last of mankind has been totally wiped out from history.

Armageddon has finally come and ended.

Year 10267

A creature from planet Zeon from a galaxy 100 million light years away landed on Planet X3–which used to be known as “Earth”. The said creature happens to be a very brilliant scientist and is curious about the plight that afflicted the planet after the destruction of the sun several hundred years ago.

The scientist found some startling evidence. For one thing, he noted gigantic structures and edifices caked in dirt and dust for over hundred years. He hypothesized that giants may have possibly roamed the planet before. He started digging up and found traces of bones of various shapes and sizes. They were all strangely unique from the other types of bones he was accustomed to seeing.

He kept a sample of them in his plexi-container for further study. He boarded right into his mini-vessel and warped straight to his lab back in Zeon. At long last, he would be able to unravel the mystery of the creatures that once inhabit the reputable “Planet X3.”
