A burst of life that springs forth

Like flowers, morose, from winter's wrath

Awakened by the sun's prophet.

Like water falling over gray 

Desolate soil, barren and unquenched

Transfigured to an infinite green.

What is love?

Like an island, a paradise lost

In this sea of abysmal darkness

A heaven amidst the thorns.
